Welcome from the Family Medicine OB Fellowship Program Director

Thank you for your interest in our Family Medicine OB Fellowship, the first fellowship of its kind in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mary Washington Healthcare is a non-profit healthcare system in Fredericksburg, Virginia, serving a diverse patient population across urban and rural communities. With two hospitals, four emergency departments, and over 80 outpatient facilities, we provide care to individuals of various ages, genders, races, and health conditions.

MWHC has a growing Graduate Medical Education program, including a Family Medicine Residency. Our residents care for patients from newborns to seniors and receive hands-on prenatal care training. The FM OB Fellowship is an exciting expansion, reflecting our commitment to urban and rural healthcare.

We offer comprehensive women's services, including pregnancy, prenatal, newborn, well-woman visits, contraception counseling, postpartum care, and preconception counseling. We collaborate with Mary Washington Obstetrics and Gynecology for delivery services.

The FM OB Fellowship aims to enhance advanced obstetric and women’s health skills in family medicine physicians, preparing them for comprehensive reproductive and maternity care, especially in underserved and rural areas. Fellows will gain expertise in clinical care, education, and leadership, preparing for independent practice in diverse settings.
