Narayan Dharel, MD,PhD

Dr. Dharel joined the practice in July 2015 after completing a fellowship in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He previously trained at Cornell University affiliate Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and worked as an attending physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and transplant hepatology, Dr. Dharel specializes in endoscopic procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of Barrett's. His areas of interest include colon cancer prevention, GERD, Barrett's, and liver diseases like Fatty Liver/NASH.

Dr. Dharel has authored numerous publications and presented at national and international conferences. He serves as the Medical Director of Endoscopy at Mary Washington Hospital and the Fredericksburg Endoscopy Center. He is also a visiting faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University and a preceptor for the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

A member of several professional organizations, Dr. Dharel was recognized as one of the region's top gastroenterologists by Northern Virginia Magazine in 2020.
