Fredericksburg, Va. – (August 1st, 2017) – Stafford Hospital has earned recertification through 2020 with Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG). Under the direction of Kurian Thott, M.D., Stafford Hospital’s GYN Surgery program meets the requirements of the COEMIG program to ensure the safest, highest quality patient care. Stafford is among only eight Virginia hospitals designated as a COEMIG facility by the Surgical Review Corporation.
COEMIG’s comprehensive, researched-based requirements and evaluation processes were developed in collaboration with leading minimally invasive GYN surgeons worldwide. A hospital demonstrates its commitment to superior patient care by having its compliance with the requirements verified through a rigorous site inspection. Dr. Thott, an OB/GYN with advanced training and expertise in minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures, coordinated the recertification effort.
Stafford Hospital Administrative Director Nursing Operations & Practice, Debra Marinari, MSN, RN, NE-BC said, “By earning COEMIG re-designation, Stafford Hospital reaffirms its excellence in delivering safe, high-quality care to minimally invasive gynecologic surgery patients. Hundreds of such surgeries are performed at Stafford Hospital each year under Dr. Thott’s leadership and clinical expertise. As a result, our patients experience outstanding outcomes and a better quality of life.”
