Fredericksburg, VA, February 27, 2019 – Stafford Hospital is honored to celebrate ten years of service to its community. Prior to Stafford Hospital opening, the Fredericksburg area was served by a single hospital for 110 years. Since the hospital opened in 2009, Stafford Hospital has offered quality healthcare to its patients, improved access to care, and grown through the expansion of services and state-of-the-art equipment.
Over the past ten years, Stafford Hospital has delivered over 7,800 babies, cared for more than 337,500 patients in its Emergency Department, and held over 20,900 surgery cases. Adult, junior, and college volunteers serving at Stafford Hospital have generously donated more than 79,100 hours of their time to provide services to patients, visitors, and hospital staff. A few areas of growth over the years include the expansion of an Intermediate Level II Nursery to care for babies delivered at 34 weeks or later, radiation and oncology services through the Mary Washington Healthcare Regional Cancer Center, and certification as one of only six Virginia hospitals designated as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) from the Surgical Review Corporation. The hospital also offers exceptional cardiac care through its cardiac catherization lab; in 2019, Stafford Hospital will expand cardiac services and open a second cardiac catheterization lab to meet the needs of the growing community.
Since the inception of the Stafford Hospital Foundation in 2007, over $1.5 million has been given through the Stafford Hospital Foundation Community Benefit Fund to further aid local access to health and wellness services and information. Funds for grants have been awarded to 14 organizations throughout the service area, including Stafford Junction, ACTS, and Stafford County Department of Social Services.
