Mary Washington Hospital's Primary Stroke Center Recertified by The Joint Commission

Fredericksburg, VA-May 18, 2020 - Mary Washington Hospital’s (MWH) Primary Stroke Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. This 2020 certification marks the 11th consecutive year of providing the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes for MWH stroke patients.

Mary Washington Hospital underwent a rigorous onsite review in February 2020. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
