Dr. Abhijeet Nakave Receives Top 100 Healthcare Visionaries Award

Fredericksburg, VA (July 1, 2021) – Dr. Abhijeet Nakave, Mary Washington Hospitalist, receives the Top 100 Healthcare Visionaries Award from the International Forum on Advancements in Healthcare (IFAH).

“I am honored that I was nominated and selected to receive this prestigious award and for the continued support from Mary Washington Healthcare. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit not only in India but also here in the USA, we saw many changes in the way medical practice is conducted via telemedicine. MDtok is helping by reducing the burden in many healthcare systems around the world so that they can better communicate, review cases, deliver counseling, education, patient support, and guidance towards the treatment plan,” says Dr. Nakave.

Daniel Woodford, MD, Medical Director for the Mary Washington Medical Group says, “Dr. Nakave has always demonstrated a passion for connecting sometimes distinct segments of healthcare--such as primary care and hospital medicine--through technology in order to provide the most comprehensive and successful care plan for his patients. His recent work with recruiting his colleagues in the Fredericksburg region and beyond to provide virtual health care and other means of support to suffering patients in India is an extension of that heart for his patients. Dr. Nakave truly exemplifies the spirit of selfless service that we encourage in all of our providers at Mary Washington Healthcare.”

IFAH primarily comprises achievers from the industry who are recognized for their contributions and provide a platform for networking and knowledge sharing amongst this elite group of high-performing individuals and companies. All nominees were adjudged on five parameters: Overall Reach, Industry Impact, Spirit of Innovation, Future Readiness, and Market Demand.

Dr. Nakave, founder of MDtok put out a virtual call for help during the worst peaks of the pandemic in India, and more than 400 doctors from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Australia responded. Since then, the MDtok.com website has had almost 4 million hits and more than 30,000 virtual visits between doctors who live in other parts of the world. This allows primary care doctors along with the specialists from tertiary care centers to review patient cases to make sure the patient is receiving the best care possible.

MDtok efforts were noticed by Los Angeles Times, American Telemedicine Association, American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, American Indians Physicians of Northern Ohio, and many prints, online media, and Indian News channels.
