be challenging. To guide and support patients and their families, the
Mary Washington Healthcare Regional Cancer Center offers a
complimentary Cancer Nurse Navigator program.
Our Cancer Center Nurse Navigator program is a completely free, confidential
service and does not require a physician's referral. For more information

Cancer Nurse Navigators are dedicated registered nurses specially trained
and experienced in cancer care. They provide information, guidance, compassionate
and personalized support every step along the cancer journey - from diagnosis
to treatment to survivorship. As the cancer patient's advocate, Nurse
Navigators also identify any barriers to care and help locate the resources
to overcome them.
Our MWHC Cancer Nurse Navigators will help:
Expedite scheduling and coordinating of diagnostic tests and physician
appointments
Coordinate the plan of care between your primary care and oncology physicians
Give emotional support, including one-on-one time
Provide recommendations for counseling services
Explain your diagnosis and treatment options
Gain access to possible clinical trials
Answer questions about cancer and your diagnosis
Provide educational materials on specific types of cancer
Make connections for you with community resources and support groups
Guide you throughout your journey into survivorship
Introduce you to spiritual support and guidance
